Gerard H. Meulensteen

A Dutch entrepreneur, collector and patron of art. Born 5 February 1943 in Eindhoven. He is married and has two children. In 1969 he established Neways Electronics International N. V. Until 2000 he was the Chairman of the World Trade Centre in Eindhoven and other leading companies. In 1994 he financed the activities at the Yellow House of Vincent van Gogh in Poprad. Since 9 September 2000, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava – Čunovo has become its continuation. He inspired and financed the launch of the Meulensteen Art Centre at the University of Technology in Eindhoven, which opened on 24 March 2001.

Vincent Polakovič


Born 19 November 1958 in Poprad. He is married to Katarína and they have two children, Vincent and Veronika. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice in 1982, he worked at the District Office of the Public Prosecution.
He became a lawyer in 1993. In the summer of 1990, he set out on a journey, “Following in the Footsteps of Vincent van Gogh”, and visited all the places where this famous artist lived and worked. Inspired by this travel, he built the famous Yellow House of Vincent van Gogh in Poprad and opened it on 11 September, 1993. From 1993 to 2000 he organised numerous exhibitions of Slovak artists in Slovakia and abroad.
